In India attending school is not obligatory and most of the children of poor families drop out of school after the fifth grade and go to work. PremaHome believes that education is a very important task and forms the basis of the peaceful development of a society in which each and every person has the power and ability to create a good life for him or herself. Roughly half of the children attending the school are girls. Educating girls is of utmost importance, not only in India, but everywhere in the developing world. Without an education destitute girls and women in particular are unable to independently raise their standard of living.
The school provides free education up to 10th standard for hundreds of children. The school has a very good success rate and the children often pass the government's public exams with high marks. Having already got an excellent reputation, the school now receives more and more applications every year from students seeking admission.
The present school is not big enough to accommodate this large number of children.
PremaHome would like to build a new school and teach up to 12th standard so that it can accommodate the growing number of children who want to join the free education programme.
